There are reports coming out of Italy that the transfer of Everton forward Samuel Eto’o to Sampdoria has stalled because the Italian club need to sell first before they bring in the Cameroon international. The Serie A side have been in talks with the player in the past week and are hoping to bring him in during this transfer window.

TMW have reported that a deal now centres around Argentine forward Gonzalo Bergessio who Sampdoria are trying to offload in order to bring in the Everton star.

However Bergessio is digging his heels in and wants to remain at the Serie A club despite only starting eleven games for the first team this season. He has been offered clubs that are interested in him but he basically doesn’t want to know because he wants to stay with the Genoa club.

Sampdoria are therefore now looking at the idea of selling in form forward Stefano Okaka and although there wouldn’t be any shortage of clubs to take him the Italian side would want the best transfer fee for him to leave.

AC Milan have been monitoring the situation Okaka but it would take a large bid to sign the forward. It seems for now Eto’o will have to sit tight to see what develops on the deal.

Only last we covered the story that Everton have agreed to sell forward Eto’o to Sampdoria. The Cameroon international only joined the Merseyside club in the summer transfer window after being released by Chelsea but he hasn’t had many playing opportunities whilst with the Premier League side.

Sampdoria have just sold their star forward Manolo Gabbiadini to Napoli yet the Serie A still need to lose another forward before they bring in Eto’o.
