Only two Anglophones, Mbella Moki Charles and Christopher Kaba, were elected into the 18-man executive committee of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT.
After a general assembly meeting of the football organisation held in Yaoundé on Monday September 28, Tombi ? Roko Sidiki, the football association’s former Secretary General, was overwhelmingly voted new president of FECAFOOT. He beat his only challenger, Atah Robert by 59 to 2 votes.
Tombi is to be assisted by a Francophone, Alioum Aladji. While Mbella Moki emerged as second vice president, another Francophone, Koa Luc, came up as the third vice president.
Other members of the new FECAFOOT executive are: Pierre Joseph Batamack, Yvonne Asta, Geremi Njitap, Charles Nguini, Abbo Mohamadou, David Mayebi, Boubakary Bello, Samuel Wembe, Christopher Kaba, Amadaou Madi, Jean Jacque Zam, Etsil Simon Ghislain, Antoine Essomba Eyenga and Francis Mveng.
The election statistics indicated that 8 members out of the 73-man Electoral College distanced themselves from the polls. Amongst them were two former candidates of the election, Jules Nyonga and Robert Penne.
Four null votes were also recorded during the counting exercise.
FECAFOOT rules and regulations gave the new executive a mandate of four years.
Monday’s election will on Wednesday September 30, put an end to a two-year old Joseph Owona-led FECAFOOT Normalisation Committee which so many independent football observers have described as “an abnormal normalization committee.”
The Journal gathered that the world football governing body, FIFA, would have put FECAFOOT on suspension had Monday’s elections failed.
