FENASSCO - ASVUTT sign convention to promote table tennis in schools

The Fenassco A league on Wednesday December 3rd, signed an accord with the association for the promotion of the game of table tennis, ASVUTT.

The convention is aimed at promoting the game of table tennis in secondary schools. Under the terms of this convention, ASVUTT will furnish table tennis equipment such as balls, tables and rackets to the secondary school sport federation as well as trainers to help in the detection of young talents.


Speaking during the signing ceremony at the Hilton hotel in Yaounde, the president of ASVUTT, Paul Bertin Ketchemen said the ambition of his association is to promote table tennis everywhere in the country. He disclosed that the association has organised several competitions and training camps for children between the ages of 6 and 12.

Meanwhile the president of Fenassco A, Rigobert Mandeng said the accord with ASVUTT falls within the framework of partnerships he is establishing with sports federations in order to ease the detection of young talents. He disclosed that a similar convention has been signed with Fecafoot and another one will be signed with the judo federation in the days ahead.


The representative of the minister of Sports and Physical Education, Boniface Nwaha said the initiative was an innovation worth emulating by other sports federations expressing the wish that the convention should be effective and not only for media attention. He said the convention will boost table tennis in schools in Cameroon.
