Fifa maintains its decision on Fecafoot elections

According to observations, the decision of the International football Federation (Fifa) with regards to the extension of the mandate of the Committee for standardisation has not change.

The Government of Cameroon had mentioned the difficulties related to security for the organisation of elections which was slated for 29th November in Yaoundé. The Fifa Emergency Committee therefore decided to postpone the election of the Cameroon football Federation (Fecafoot) on 28th November.

In addition, the Emergency Committee decided to extend the mandate of the Committee for Standardization until February 28, 2015. Again it was intimated that the election take place in accordance with the new Constitution adopted August 23, 2014, at Mont Fébé hotel in Yaoundé.

According to the release of the Secretary General of Fifa, Jérôme Valcke, such decisions were taken on the basis of comments received from the Cameroonian authorities who expressed their concerns from the point of view of the security for the upcoming elections within Fecafoot.

This decision means that, first of all the Chairman of the Committee for Standardization, Joseph Owona and his ten colleagues will head Fecafoot for another three months. However, Jérôme Valcke noted that, the electoral process will not be re-opened to any other nominations than previously recorded.

In the same vein, Fifa failed to acknowledge "the work preceding the adoption of the Statute, namely their preparation by eminent Cameroonian lawyers and possible the most inclusive participation, including representatives of the authorities".

And he believed that the new deadline will also "possibly explain the contents of the articles to the standards of Fifa and which have been approved by it. We remember also that before even posting the texts of the association, some languages suggested that those instruments were "cut to measure"
