After an unsuccessful attempt last year, Foimi Justilin finally made it this time around, winning the marathon race organised by the CPDM on the occasion of President Paul Biya's 30th year in office. He was closely followed by Batcha Erick in the runner up position and Kamcheu Foguieng in the third position respectively. In the women's category, ace mountaineer, Ngwaya Yvonne came first while Mousima Florence and Cezano Meli came second and third respectively. Some 1200 athletes took part in the 21 kilometre-race along the major alleys of the capital city, Yaounde.

On the side-lines of the marathon were races for handicapped people as well as skateboard rolling in both the men's and women's categories. The handicapped races took place in both the tricycle and wheelchair events. Metsagho Hugues lifted the trophy in the men's tricycle event while Mole Ingwat dominated the female category. Moukoury Lobe and Ebia Crescence were the victors in the wheel chair events in the men's and women's categories in that order.

The race took place in a festive atmosphere with animation from the INJS band, traditional dance groups and loud sounding music.

The event was presided over by the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee, Jean Nkuete in the company of his assistant, Gregoire Owona and the top brass of the party in the Mfoundi Division including Minister Etoundi Ngoa and former minister Michel Zoah. There was also a photo exhibition in the hall of the Yaounde conference centre depicting the key moments of President Biya's 30 years in office.
