The President of the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou received the trophy for his induction into the African Football Hall of Fame in the category of Best Leader on Monday, 9 March 2015.

The ceremony took place at the King Fahd Palace Congress Hall in Dakar, the Senegalese capital at 11H00 local time, on the sidelines of the 19th edition of the Orange CAF U-20 Championship, which kicks off on Sunday, 8 March 2015.

This distinction, awarded to the CAF President for his enormous contribution to the development of football on the African continent, was supposed to be handed to him last year at the 8th edition of the Africa International Sports Convention (CISA) held in Sal, Cape Verde, but Hayatou could not make it to the event due to his tight schedule.

The African Sport Hall of Fame is a honour in recognition of athletes and officials who have made a significant contribution to the development of sports on the continent.

An initiative of Senegalese sport management and events company, JAPPO Sports & Entertainment; CISA, provides a unique arena for discussions on sport in Africa.
