Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid wrote a tribute on Instagram Friday to his younger brother, who died earlier this week in Embiid's native Cameroon.

RIP for my brother who died at the age of 13. The bad thing is that I hadn't seen since I left Cameroon 4 years ago and all these days, I was just thinking about next summer so I have a chance to finally see him again..... GOD has a plan for all of us. We just gotta pray. HES GONNA BE MISSED #RIP #WHYHIM

Embiid wrote that he hadn't seen his brother in four years, and indicated he was planning to visit him this coming summer. The cause of Arthur Embiid's death was not immediately known on Thursday, Sportnado is reporting the death was due to an accident involving a vehicle.

The former University of Kansas star's teammates consoled him on Thursday.

Philadelphia head coach Brett Brown and Luc Mbah a Moute spent Thursday night with Embiid at his home in Philadelphia instead of at the team's preseason game in Boston, the Associated Press reported. General manager Sam Hinkie also spent time with Embiid.

Embiid first came to the United States from Cameroon to play high school basketball in Florida, before he was recruited by Bill Self's Kansas Jayhawks.

He played one year at Kansas, averaging 11.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. He was drafted as the third overall pick earlier this year in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Arthur Embiid was 13 years old.
