Former Indomitable Lion’s goalkeeper, Joseph Antoine Bell has accused the president of the Normalisation Committee, Joesph Owona of dishonesty.

He told French newspaper, Le Jour that the university professor lied to Cameroonians if he said that, he Antoine Bell did not include a certificate of non-conviction in his file for the post of FECAFOOT president.

The former national football team keeper explained that his candidature was dropped for reasons other than that of submission of an incomplete file. He said he has a receipt which was given to him by Phillipe Memong as attestation that he deposited a complete file including a non-conviction certificate.

Bell accused Owona for giving Cameroonians the impression that he is ineligible for the post because of the absence of a non-conviction certificate.

“I was a candidate at the municipal elections, obviously with a non-conviction certificate. I am a traditional ruler, installed and enthroned, recognised by the state which means I submitted a complete file including the certificate of non-conviction.”

He argued that when FIFA sent a letter to the Committee last year, postponing the FECAFOOT election of November 29, the overseer of world football confirmed the candidature of five persons. “FIFA did not state that some documents needed to be submitted.” Bell said, insisting that despite the committee’s decision to retain two candidates, Tombi a Roko and Robert Atah of Momo divisional league, he is going to be present as candidate and will be elected on February 25 alongside others. “I will do what a citizen does when his rights are violated” he threatened.

The normalisation Committee validated the candidacy of the two candidates last weekend and rejected those of Jules Lyonga, Brigitte Mebande, Robert Penne and Antoine Bell.

The rejected candidates are of the opinion that Atah Robert struck a deal with Tombi a Roko to be maintained as his main challenger so that he, Tombi will end up winner of the elections.
