Karate Athlete, Elie Feller Opts For Cameroon

The Swiss-born Cameroonian karate athlete trained recently with the national karate team.

Elie Feller is a young and very talented karate athlete who has been representing Switzerland in international competitions. Born from a Cameroonian father and a Swiss mother, Elie Feller has suddenly been stroke by a patriotic feeling for Cameroon.

Though he has brought glory to Switzerland in the past notably by winning the European championship in the junior category, Feller, 18, now wants to fight for Cameroon. He was elected the best Swiss karate athlete in 2013 and despite his accomplishments; he condescended to train with the national karate team which is preparing for the upcoming Francophonie Games in France. "Though I was not born in Cameroon, I love Cameroon," he said. "I am a lion in the spirit, he affirmed.

Commenting on the level of karate in Cameroon, Feller said it was good but that he could bring about some amelioration. Officials of the Cameroon Karate federation has welcomed Feller's gesture and are doing the necessary paper works to have this talented athlete. In related news, athletes of the national karate team are currently fine-tuning training at the MINFI Karate club in Yaounde in preparation for the Francophonie Games to take place in Nice-France. The condition of their training leaves much to be desired for athletes who are expected to defend the national colours on the world stage.
