Despite the one-all draw recorded against Astres on the 7th day of play this weekend, they maintain a two-point lead on the championship.

Newly promoted Lion Blessé of Fotouni has maintained an unbeaten record since the beginning of the championship this year. The club from the Upper Nkam conserved the lead they took at the helm of the championship since the beginning of the season despite playing a one-all draw with Astres of Douala on the 7th day of play of the championship over the weekend.

However, Coton Sport is turning the heat on Lion Blessé as they beat Yong Sports 2-0 to narrow the gap between the league leaders and the runners up.

Lion Blessé now has 17 points after recording five victories and two draws.

Whereas Coton Sport equally invincible since the start of the season has 15 points. Another new kid on the block, Botafogo occupies the third position with 12 points thanks to the 3-0 victory over Canon on the 7th day of play over the weekend. Yong sports dropped one place down to the fourth position due to the defeat against Coton Sport while Apejes beat Dragon 2-0 to move up to the fifth position on 11 points.

The situation at the bottom of the table remains unchanged as Cosmos who emerged runners up last year, suffered a 0-2 defeat to New Stars to further sink down the drain. They are first from bottom with one point after having recorded just one victory and one draw in seven outings.

Canon Yaounde who are still gunning for the first victory in the championship, occupy the second to the last position after having recorded five draws and two defeats. They suffered their second defeat of the season 3-0 to Botafogo over the weekend to drop into the relegation zone.

Void of a credible leadership, the ill luck continued for Fovu of Baham who conceded their fourth defeat of the season against Njalla Quan academy. They were narrowly edged 1-0 by Njalla Quan at the centenary stadium in Limbe on Sunday.

At the middle of the point tally sheet, there are five teams on six points each who are currently threatened by relegation as they are barely one point ahead of the first team below the relegation line. They are namely; Unisport, UMS, Panthere, Astres and Njalla Quan in that decreasing order of classification.

Unisport and Panthere have an opportunity to hop out of this group when they take on each other in a late day seven encounter tomorrow in Bafang. The other four are safe in the middle and in a position to challenge the top rated teams as they are five to seven points away from the league leaders.
