Officials from the Ministry of Sports and the Cameroon football federation have finally disbursed bonuses to the players of the women national team and their supervisors. The authorities released a lump sum of 500 million FCFA.
The players each received FCFA 9,800,000. This amount consists of premiums: Afcon participation in Namibia 2014 (1 million), games won in the first round (1 million 200 thousand), match won in the semifinal (1 million 500 thousand), and the rest for the final phase of qualification of the Canada World Cup 2015.
The Indomitable Lionesses, second African champions, had initially shunned 24 hours earlier, the sum of five million CFA francs that the government had originally planned for each. A discontent that had brought them to boycott the ceremony held in their honor by the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education.
Having found a common ground yesterday, both parties had a meeting on Wednesday morning with management at the Palais des Sports in Yaounde in the presence of five members of government (the Communications Minister, Sports Minister, the Minister of field cadastre and Land Affairs, the Minister of the Women and Family, the Ministry of Social Affairs).
