The Indomitable Lions Head Coach, Volke Finke has assured fans of football on the preparedness of the team and the technical bench against this Saturday match with the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Yaounde.
He made the revelation this Thursday 13th November 2014 when confronted by the pressmen in a press conference at the CAF Excellence Center in Mbankomo, Yaounde.
Answering to the worries of the press, Volke Finke said there is no need to have fear because even a draw against the Leopards will earn Cameroon National team a qualification ticket for the AFCON 2015.
The Head Coach further said the players have proved proficient and discipline since their training sessions that started on Monday 10th 2015 at the training ground at the CAF Excellence Center in Mbankomo.
Despite a few injuries sustained by players like Nicolas Nkoulou, Henri Bedimo, Leonard Kweuke, Benjamin Moukandjo, in their various clubs, the Lions’ Coach said the medical team has been active all this while and no serious case has been recorded.
When questioned on the squad to confront the Leopard of the DRC, the coach said he is confident with the 24-man squad that started and has been playing the 2014 qualifier matches. He expresses a little worry about Patrick Ekeng Ekeng, Adolphe Teikeu and Alexandre Kombi because they are new faces to the squad.
Staphane Mbia, Captain of the team on his part said he has enjoyed the team spirit amongst his colleagues while promising a surprise to the fans, something he claims will be more than the 2-0 record Cameroon created in their last match in Lubumbashi in the DRC.
Worthy of note is the fact that, CAF has on this Friday 14th November 2015 declared Equatorial Guinea as the AFCON 2015 after the Morocco refused to host the football jamboree on an excuse of the Ebola virus.
Equatorial Guinea has been challenged to host the sixteen team event in 2015 even though the time allocation is short. Morocco on her part has been suspended from the competition.
