LIVERPOOL have joined Manchester United in the race for former Arsenal star and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song, with Lucas Leiva set to join Rafa Benitez at Napoli.
Song is likely to leave the Nou Camp before the end of the season after being made surplus to requirements by new boss Luis Enrique, and has been attracting attention from United in recent weeks.
The Red Devils are hopeful of signing Arturo Vidal from Juventus, but Louis Van Gaal has already sounded out Song if a move for the Chilean fails to materialise.
It is believed that the Cameroon international would jump at the chance to move to Old Trafford, but reports from Spain now claim that Brendan Rodgers is keen to make a move.
The former Swansea boss is set to lose Brazilian Lucas to Napoli, where he will link up with Anfield favourite Benitez.
Liverpool are on the verge of signing Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno, but Rodgers is also hoping he can take Song off Barca's hands in either a permanent deal or a season-long loan.
Whether Song is interested in a move to Merseyside remains to be seen, but if United end up capturing Vidal, the 26-year-old could be left with no other choices.
