Samuel Eto’o has made some controversial claims about his time at Real Madrid.
The Cameroonian star began his professional career under Fabio Capello at Madrid but struggled to make an impact in his three years with the club.
The former Barcelona forward said of his time at the Bernabeu: “When I was 16 and I was in the cantera (youth academy) nobody respected me.
“Even my team-mates did not greet me. They treated me badly, despite my many goals.“The only people who believed in me were Capello and [Italo] Galbiati (Capello’s assistant).
“I was hungry for fame, money, goals… I wanted to be somebody.“I’ll never understand the real reason [for Eto’o’s relative failure at Madrid]. I have always done well.
“The only explanation is that perhaps black men were not welcome at the club.”The current Antalyaspor forward may land himself in trouble due to the seriousness of the allegations.
At this time, there is zero evidence that there were any racial issues contaminating Eto’o’s relationship with Madrid.
