Models of the future Stadiums in Yaounde (Paul Biya Stadium), Douala and Bafoussam

The models of the future Paul Biya stadium Yaounder, and future stadiums of Douala and Yaounder have been presented to visiting Confederation of African Football (CAF) experts in Yaounde. The experts will then travel to Bafoussam, Douala, Garoud and Limbe to inspect the infrastructures that Cameroon has to offer in her bid to host the 2019 African Cup of Nations A special team was dispatched by the Prime Minister to the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport to receive the team of CAF experts who arrived at 4:00 am Tuesday 12 May 2014. Faced with the inspectors of the African Football Confederation this morning in Yaounde, the Secretary General of FECAFOOT, Tombi A Roko, presented a resume of the infrastructure that Cameroon intends to build or rehabilitate if it is given the right to the organize finals of the African Cup of Nations 2019.

In terms of infrastructure, the government plans to build a 60,000 seater stadium named "Paul Biya Omnisport Stadium" in Olembe neighborhood in Yaoundé. In Douala, a 50,000-seat stadium in the suburbs of the economic capital, specifically in the area Bwang - Bakokos is also planned. In Bafoussam, the capital region of the West, the construction of a stadium of 20,000 seats in Kwekong area is already underway, while Limbe in the south-west of the village Ngueme already has a brand new 20,000 seater stadium.

The CAF inspectors were not content to watch the model of these stages . They asked to be reassured that everything will be ready later by 2018, which is the time-frame set for the end of construction or rehabilitation. To further convince the experts, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education referred to a comment made by Sepp Blatter , the FIFA president who, after an audience with the head of state Paul Biya declared that he himself had been reassured by the President of Cameroon that all infrastructure will be completed by 2018. After this exchange, in the presence of Ministers Bello Bouba , André Mama Fouda , Issa Tchiroma Adoum Garoua and others , the delegation of the CAF led by Malian Amadou Diakite , went on the ground to take cognizance of the existing hotels, hospitals and sports infrastructures.

At the end of their tour in Yaoundé , Douala, Limbe , Bafoussam and Garoua, the result of their mission will be presented to the Executive Committee of CAF that will make its decision in September 2014. Cameroon is in competition with five other countries, namely the ivory Coast, Algeria, Guinea , Zambia and DR Congo.
