Ndamukong Suh misses first practice of Detroit Lions career

Ndamukong Suh's incredible iron man streak is over.

It took nearly five years, but the Detroit Lions' star defensive lineman has finally missed the first practice of his career (not including a two-game suspension in 2011). That's a remarkable run of durability in a game so violent.

Suh sat out Thursday's practice due to an undisclosed illness. Linebacker Josh Bynes is also ill, and missed the past two days of practice.

The illness shouldn't sideline Suh for Sunday's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, which could be his last home game at Ford Field. His contract voids five days after the Super Bowl, and is expected to become the highest-paid defensive tackle in the game if he hits free agency.

He's only missed two games in his career, both for that 2011 suspension.

Detroit didn't have either of its starting defensive tackles for practice Thursday, with Nick Fairley still out with a knee injury.

The Lions did appear to be healthier on offense though, where both tailback Reggie Bush and right tackle LaAdrian Waddle were practicing. Waddle was limited Wednesday with a head injury, while Bush didn't practice at all.
