Ndamukong Suh wants out of Detroit

Ndamukong Suh wasn't around to answer questions about new reports he wants out of Detroit, and Lions coach Jim Caldwell wasn't in any mood to address them after his team's grind-it-out 24-17 win over the New York Jets on Sunday.

"I'm not going to even go there," Caldwell said. "And the big thing is, I do think that we just played a heck of a football game, and I think that's what's important.

These guys played well, did a great job and we just hope we continue to get them better, got a big one next week."

ESPN reported early Sunday that both Suh and the Lions "are preparing" to part ways after the season when the Pro Bowl defensive tackle hits free agency, and that Suh is intrigued by the idea of playing in the New York market.

Suh, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 draft, is in the final season of a rookie contract that voids five days after the Super Bowl.

He wants to be one of the highest paid defensive players in the league — J.J. Watt set the bar with a six-year, $100-million contract earlier this year — but with the two sides far apart on money, the Lions tabled contract negotiations with Suh at the start of training camp.

Suh, who's repeatedly said he wants to stay in Detroit, did not dress in the Lions locker room after Sunday's game according to the New York Post — he took his pads off and boarded the bus while still wearing the undershirt he played in — and ignored questions as he left MetLife Stadium.

Suh rarely speaks with reporters or is in the locker room after road games unless the Lions bring him to the post-game podium.

"I can't answer or talk about any rumors or speculation or anything," Caldwell said of the ESPN report. "I'm not going to answer those kinds of questions."

Suh was credited with one tackle Sunday as the Lions improved to 3-1.
