The Seasiders began their 2014 Caf Confederations Cup campaign on a bright note by defeating their hosts in a five-goal thriller on Saturday

Warri Wolves spanked hosts Union Douala of Cameroon 3-2 in the first leg first round of the Caf Confederations Cup matched played at the Stade de la Reunification on Saturday afternoon.

Musa Najare’s header in the 12th minute put the Nigerians ahead but their lead was short-lived as Patrick Ngouala scored the equaliser for the home team three minutes later.

With seven minutes left to play in the first half, Oghenekaro Etebo got the second goal for Warri Wolves as they took the lead into the half time break.

On restart of the second half, the Cameroonians who were desperate for a win in the encounter leveled scores before Bartholomew Ibenegbu grabbed the winning goal in the closing stages of the match for the visitors.

The return leg holds in Nigeria in a fortnight with the winner on aggregate qualifying for the next round of the competition.

Warri Wolves had earlier rejected the hotel booked for them by the Cameroon FA on arrival from Nigeria before relocating to Somatel Hotel located in Bali area of the ancient City of Douala.
