The interim president of the Cameroon FA Joseph Owona was over the moon with their Afcon bid win.

Cameroon will host the 2019 edition and the country will have to invest in infrastructure and facilities before the edition.

However, Owona sees the bid as an olive branch to their state of football.

“We have won here in two ways. First, the 2019 African Cup of Nations, we were looking more into the 2021 bid but this award is welcomed too. Second, Caf came up with a special award called the Caf Albert Ebosse fair play award that will honour him. That makes us happy as well.

“This is good for Cameroonian football, more stadiums, more facilities and a chance to have this part of our rebuilding process.”

With the Indomitable Lions on a roll in the current 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with maximum points, he was quick to point out they can restore the dominance all over again.

“We have produced the Roger Milla, Patrick Mbomas among others, we did it and we can still do it again.”

Cameroon last hosted the event in 1972.
