PM visits construction sites of stadia in Yaounde

Engineers working on the different stadia to serve as training ground and to host matches in Yaoundé during the 2016 Women's African Nations Cup has reassured the Prime Minister that construction will be completion by the deadline.

The assurance was given during an inspection tour made by Prime Minister – Head of Government, Philemon Yang to the construction sites of the two annex stadia in Mfandena, the Military Stadium in Ngoa Nkele and the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Mfandena.

At each of the construction sites the Prime Minister accompanied by some cabinet Ministers observed the pace of work before questioning the engineers on different aspects of the construction process. The delegation observed that work was progressing normally but at different paces.

The delegation was satisfied with the pace of work at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium. The natural turf was already planted and seats were being fitted while renovation works were simultaneously going on at the presidential tribune. The level construction was evaluated at over 60%.

Construction work was timidly gathering steam on the other stadia where only about 30% of the infrastructure has been put up so far. The engineers however reassured the PM that they are work day and night to complete the civil engineering works in record time so that installation of chairs and other logistics can begin.

At the end of the evaluation trip, Prime Minister Philemon Yang received assurances that work will be delivered by mid-August 2016. He called for more commitment and hard-work on the part of engineers and technicians as the Women\'s African Nations Cup approaches in the horizon.
