SW FECAFOOT presidency: Aspirants urge Mbella Moki to resign

Aspirants for the post of South West FECAFOOT President have urged the incumbent President, Senator Mbella Moki Charles to resign, arguing that he has done enough in 10 years.

Protus Nouck Bilap, CRTV Journalist and President of Little Foot FC and ace legal guru and Executive President of Buea United, Barrister Felix Agbor Nkongho (fondly called Agbor Balla) are burning the midnight oil to succeed the senator in the November 7, 2014 elections.

“It’s glaring that he has failed. He should step down. He does not have time for the game, he is too committed. Let him concentrate with his senatorial job and leave football to those who love the game,” Agbor Balla opines.

Nouck expressed a similar view when he told The SUN that he would have honorably resigned if he was in Mbella Moki’s place.

At this point, Senator Mbella Moki is yet to declare his interest to keep the South West FECAFOOT top job. It is believed that he has plans of occupying a much more significant position in the National Bureau of Cameroon’s Football management body.

The SUN has it that the President of EMSA Tiko, Charles Eteki Dikonge may narrow his way through to become President especially with wild speculations that he is the Senator’s man.

Though Nouck is no greenhorn to football management, Barrister Agbor Nkongho’s beaming love for the game puts him on pole position.

Agbor Balla’s rallying force was put to test on October 13 when he convened a meeting of football club officials at his Federal Quarters residence in Buea.

Club representatives from over 15 clubs answered present at the meeting whose aim, Agbor Balla said was to pave a success path for the regional league that has suffered a four-month break due to lack of funds.

The club representatives from Fako, Meme and Manyu were given envelops to help their clubs resume the football season, a gesture Agbor Balla says would have seen the light of day even without impending elections.

“I did make it clear that it wasn’t a campaign move. I know when campaigns are around the corner, everybody interprets every action to be somewhat linked to campaign. I had the representatives of two of my opponents in the meeting-Nouck and Eteki were all represented,” he said.

He went on to add that “If I was campaigning, I will not be giving financial support to my opponents because I will be arming them financially to face me.”

In the meantime, Senator Mbella Moki in a reaction to the recent decision by the FECAFOOT Normalization Committee disqualifying the divisional delegates from the six divisions of the region said the various divisional clubs were responsible for the disqualification.

He justified that club officials of the various divisional leagues had failed to submit documents attesting their participation in the league despite ceaseless reminders from the FECAFOOT office.
