Forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute announced via his Instagram that he signed a contract with the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, July 14.

It will be Mbah a Moute's second stint with the Kings, as he played with them in nine games during the 2013-14 season. He spent last season with the Philadelphia 76ers, starting 61 games.

The 6'8" forward recorded career highs with 9.9 points per game and 3.7 defensive rebounds with the Sixers. Entering his seventh season, Mbah a Moute became a target of the Kings after their pursuit of Andrea Bargnani failed, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Mbah a Moute would most likely be playing as a power forward with Sacramento. The Kings have a plethora of small forwards, including Rudy Gay, Marco Belinelli, Caron Butler and Omri Casspi. But it is not so deep at the power forward slot with Eric Moreland as the only 4-man listed.

Mbah a Moute will be a significant upgrade on the defensive end of things, as he is athletic and versatile enough to guard some of the best players in the league. The Kings were tied for third-worst in the NBA last season, allowing 105.0 points per game on their way to a 29-53 finish.

With an established coach in George Karl taking over for his first full season in Sacramento, it will be imperative for all of the Kings' new facets to jell. But a signing like Mbah a Moute shows that the Kings are comfortable with the roster they have and are looking for minor role-player tweaks as they attempt to become a contender in the Western Conference.
