Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero “threatened us and took us for a ride,” claimed the agent of Samuel Eto’o.
The legal battle over alleged unpaid wages has been rumbling on for a year, ever since the Cameroon striker left to join Antalyaspor following six months at Marassi.
“We were contacted by Ferrero on the night of May 3,” agent George Gardi told Primocanale television.
“He asked us to interrupt the legal action against Sampdoria, promising that it would be resolved along with his lawyer Antonio Romei when the season ended.
“This has not happened, as the season terminated three weeks ago. We realised he has once again taken us for a ride. I was once more very disappointed by this attitude from the President.
“FIFA wrote formally to Sampdoria and we know what will happen soon. We received threats and insults, both Samuel and I, from the President.
“We have already sent all the evidence to our lawyer, who will decide what to do. We were very surprised by Ferrero’s attitude. We didn’t expect this from the President of a Serie A club.
“We’ve never seen behaviour like this from anyone in football. We worked in many countries, not just European, and there has always been a fairly cordial atmosphere.
“Samuel was surprised too. Having received these threats directly I cannot explain what is behind this behaviour.”
