West Ham’s midfielder Alexandre Song has been left out of Cameroon’s squad by national coach Volker Finke ahead of their remaining two encounters of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2015 qualifiers.

The 27-year old made his last appearance for the Indomitable Lions in their 2014 World Cup Group stage clash with Croatia last June, where he was sent off halfway through the game for a silly challenge on Mario Mandzukic.

And it seems clear that the player is still paying for his behaviour in Brazil, whether it was on or off the pitch, given his current form with the ‘Hammers’ whom he joined on loan this summer from Barcelona.

Finke made very few changes to the team that claimed four points against Sierra Leone in the last round of qualifiers, as he announced a 24-man squad on Friday.

The German, however, handed a first call-up to FC Cordoba midfielder Patrick Ekeng Ekeng and to Ukraine-based centre-back Adolphe Teikeu.

Cameroon, who will resume a camp in Yaoundé from 10th to 20th November, will host DR Congo at the stade Ahmadou Ahidjo on November 15 before facing Côte d’Ivoire in Abidjan four days later.

The Indomitable Lions are currently topping their Group D on ten points, followed by the Léopards and the Elephants, both on 6 points, and Sierra Leone who have only bagged a single point from their first four encounters.
