Issues are coming up with the impending Cameroon Football Federation elections set for February 25 as the Court for Arbitration of Sports, TAS, has declared the 2014 statutes invalid.

This means that the valid statutes are those of 2009 as declared by Essomba Eyanga and co who filed the case indicating their legitimacy to TAS.

Following the general assembly which elected the Iya Mohammed list, while he was in prison, Essomba Eyenga and co said they were the legitimate office holders with their first vice-president John Begehni Ndeh.

They took over the federation with the help of the gendarmes and the first Vice president and Iya had to resign.

Fifa stepped into condition the suspension of Cameroon on the government agreeing to the appointment of the Normalisation Committee, with Prof. Joseph Owona as president.

The mandate of this committee has been extended twice. No one knows what will happen after the set February 28, 2015 FIFA ultimatum expires for the federation to hold elections.

Professor Joseph Owona announcing the decision from TAS stated that, discussions in the days ahead with Fifa would determine the way forward.

Meanwhile, Fecafoot’s problems are far from over and in the coming days there is bound to be another twist of events. Let us wait and see.
