The leaders of the professional clubs in Cameroon (Ligue 1 and Ligue 2) were at a seminar this Friday, October 17, 2014 in Douala.

Organized by the Cameroonian football Federation, this meeting was intended to make them aware of the criteria for the licensing of CAF African clubs. It is inter alia to ensure that the club has an administration, adequate infrastructure for trainings and the FCA meetings, has qualified technicians (A FCA or A Federal licence holders), it has a legal status, which means that it is a limited company to sports object or that the club has finances for its participation in a competition.

"The seminar reminded us of our responsibilities, our requirements. It should be noted that with the advent of professionalism in 2011 and the creation of the Professional League, logically, there was need to make mention of CAF license to participate in African competitions. But the Fecafoot had FIFA administrative tolerance and since that date, apart from the legal aspect of clubs, it has not really advanced. But now, before the next international competitions, all clubs involved in African competitions must validate their licences before November 30, 2014." entrusted Franck Happi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union Sportive de Douala.

The latter is also pleased that all likely to participate in the different African competitions are able to meet most of the requirements of CAF.

And after Tombi A Roko Sidiki, Secretary-General of the Cameroon Football Federation, different platforms will be put at the disposal of the clubs in the Federation, to better explain and accompany the Cameroon teams towards the respect of these CAF criteria.

This seminar also helped to raise awareness among other club presidents on the importance of the development of the youth, the management of the contracts of the football players. According to officials of the Federation, these criteria by CAF are intended to develop football on the African continent.
