Volleyball Championship - Second Regrouping Holds in Douala

The male category counts eight teams, the female side has 10 which playing simultaneously.

Sports lovers especially those attracted to volleyball turned out at Government Primary School Akwa in Douala, to witness the second grouping of the national volleyball championship. Organised by the Cameroon Volleyball Federation (FECAVOLLEY) the competition held over the weekend on Saturday January 26 and Sunday 27. The different matches pitting eight male teams alongside 10 female ones were played simultaneously on two separate courts. Talking to CT, the Secretary General of FECAVOLLEY, Lavoisier Yende, explained that the championship for the 2012-2013 season opened in January in Yaounde for the first regrouping. After Douala, Garoua will host the competiton, while the season is expected to end by June 2013. As such, the players can prepare themselves for the African Nations Cup, the World Cup and other international competitions in the sports discipline.

The first day of play, Saturday January 26, recorded the following results in the male category: Bafia versus Port VB of Douala 1-3; Cameroon Sports and Renaissance VB ended with 3-1; YUC lost to Helou Michel VB 0-3; FAP and Renaissance ended with 3-0; Port Douala was defeated by Cameroon Sports 2-3; and INJS versus Bafia VB ended 1-3.

In the female category, Litto Team beat FAP 3-1; INJS and Bafia played 3-1; Nyong et Kelle versus Inter City recorded 3-0; Olympic and YUC 1-3 ; Coeur Evolution Fighters versus Cameroon Sports 2-3; while Litto Team and Nyong et Kelle played 3-0.

Sunday's competition saw the following results in the male category: Fap beat Helou Michel 3-0; Port Douala thrashed INJS 3-0; while Cameroon Sports and YUC ended 3-0. The ladies on their part recorded the following: Inter City versus FAP 0-3; Litto Team and Bafia ended 3-2. Three other matches, being two in the female and one in the male categories are slated for Wednesday January 30 in Yaounde, after which a compilation of the first and second regrouping results will enable the teams' classification.
