Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda has once more drop points at home as the team’s miserable start to the 2014 season at the Bamenda Municipal Stadium home ground continues.
The latest draw back was last Wednesday, April 2, 2014 when they recorded a 0-1 defeat in the hands of lowly placed Renaissance of Ngoumou, in a match counting for the 12th day of play in the National Elite One Championship.
Of the six matches played at home since the start of the championship, YOSA has won only one game against Canon of Yaounde in a delayed day 2 match. They have drawn 3 against Unisport of Bafang, Cosmos of Bafia, and Sable of Batie. YOSA has also recorded two home defeats, in the hands of New Stars of Douala on day 8, and recently Renaissance of Ngoumou on the 12th day of play.
But on its travels, YOSA has bagged a total of 7 points from a possible 15; against 6 points from a possible 18 points playing at home. YOSA’s away records reads 2 wins, one draw and two defeats.
After last weekend’s draw in Mbouda against Bamboutous, the team captain, Kongyuy Jude said their poor home run was due to the pressure of the supporters and the fact that most of the players are still very young and learning.
Kongyuy Jude YOSA Deputy Coach, Sampabum kenneth Sama thinks otherwise. After the defeat against Renaisance of Ngoumoum where he took charge of the team, he said the problem is more with the attackers who are less sharp in front of goal.
“There is nothing wrong with the team, we play well at home, the chances are there, we create them, is the problem of scoring and we need to work very very hard and I think with time things will move” he said after the defeat.
This weekend, YOSA travels to Bandjoun to face Fovu club, classified 4th on 20 points, a distant 7 points and 11 places ahead of YOSA. The team’s recent poor home form means they are only 3 points and three places above relegation.
