Yong Sport stunned favourites Canon Yaounde to win the 2013 Coupe du Cameroon 4-1 on penalties in the final on Sunday (December 22) in Yaounde.

The encounter ended barren in normal time before Yong Sport triumphed via kicks from the spot.

Canon, three-time African champions and 11-time winners of the Cameroonian version of the FA Cup were highly favoured but their hopes of annexing the title for the first time since 1999, were dashed by the relatively unknown side from Bamenda, located in the Northwest part of Cameroon.

Not even the presence of veteran Cameroon defender Pierre Wome in the Canon set-up could aid the chances of the 10-time national champions.

After a deadlock in regulation time, Yong Sport, formed in 2004, wrapped up their first ever major title since their promotion into the Cameroonian top flight in 2009 via penalties. They will represent Cameroon in next year's Orange CAF Confederation Cup alongside Union Douala.

League champions Coton Sport and Les Astres FC will play in the 2014 Orange CAF Champions League.
