The lions will travel to Tunis on Thursday to begin their preparation for the World Volleyball Championship that will take place in Poland.
This is the beginning of a very long preparation for the Lions who would be a part of the 18th edition of the games that will take place from August 30 to September 21 this year.
Although Cameroon does not participate in the World League (competition that brings together 28 teams), Peter Nonnenbroich the German coach intends to focus on his first task in Tunisia.
Lions volleyball team, which were to begin their preparations on Monday in Tunis, eventually will be leaving Cameroon thursday (93 days before the start of the competition), for the preparation that will run until June 22.
Peter Nonnenbroich has invited 20 players which only 14 will take part in the final tournament. In Tunis, the Lions will be lodge at Elmouradi Hotel in Gammarth (north-west of Tunis).
"This is a site suitable for top athletes. I often went with Esperance. From the hotel, we are 10 minutes from the gym Sidi Bou Said, 15 minutes to the gym, "added the coach.
The team is a mixture of experienced players like Moussa Maliki (goalkeeper) and David Patrick Feughouo (shooter). This is the debut of Hermann Marie Engala (central) waiting to show what he knows. The team has seasoned players particularly Alain Fossi Kamto and young players like Ivan Kody Bitjaa (receiver-striker)and Hervé Kofane Boyomo (central).
Currently, four of the five opponents of the Lions in Group A took part in the intercontinental phase of the World League volleyball in Italy. Poland (5th World), Argentina (7th World), Serbia (9 worldwide) and Australia (13th worldwide), will play a minimum of three group matches in this competition based on the qualification of each in the tournament.
Venezuela (World 31st), another opponent of the Lions, who knows some of the same financial problems like Cameroon is, however, not negligible. In the opinion of specialists, the team is full of experienced players with some knowledge of the highest level.
The Lions will have to work hard to meet their various opponents. Based in Wroclaw, southwest Poland, the Lions will leave the country 72 hours before their first outing on Aug. 31 against Australia.
