Samuel Eto’o insists he will always be at the top until the day he retires. The Chelsea forward was on the score-sheet for his country on Sunday night, scoring the opener in a 2-2 draw with Germany in an international friendly played in Mönchengladbach.

“It was a very tough game, a high-standard match where we proved our quality,” Eto’o told Mboafootball after the game.

The Indomitable Lions next face Maldova on Saturday, their final friendly before jetting off to Brazil.

“Now we must keep on working and win our next game in a few days in Yaoundé,” Eto’o said.

The 33-year-old forward, who scored his 56th goal for Cameroon in the draw on Sunday, performed his customary ‘old-man’ celebration at the corner flag after netting against Germany, continuing his jab back at club manager Jose Mourinho who made sarcastic comments about his age earlier in the season.

“As they have said I may be old, but until I stop I will always be the number one,” Eto’o said.
