Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is impressed with Samuel Eto’o’s performance for Everton against Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has been singing the praises of Everton striker Samuel Eto’o.

The 33-year-old played arguably the best game of his Everton career so far on Sunday when he scored twice against Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League.

Eto’o, who played for Chelsea last season, scored in the 4th and the 85th minute of the encounter to help the Toffees to a 3-1 away victory.

As the Cameroon international’s match stats show, he was genuinely good against promoted outfit Burnley.

Carragher was understandably impressed with Eto’o's performance and told Sky Sports: ‘Even before he got his second goal I would have said he was the man of the match.

‘He’s a classy operator and it’s a fantastic goal. Ten years ago when he was playing under Frank Rijkaard at Barcelona he was possibly the best striker in Europe. He’s not that now, he wasn’t that for Chelsea that last season, but you can see he’s a clever footballer.

'In the past he’s relied on sharpness and pace, but his understanding of the game and reading of the game is there. He was very unfortunate to not get his hat-trick and he looks a great bit of business for Everton and Roberto Martinez’.

At 33, Eto’o is past his best and has just a few more years left in his career. However, the former Barcelona star retains his footballing intelligence and knows how to score goals.

Roberto Martinez is a very shrewd manager who knows how to get the best out of his players. As the season progresses, the Spanish boss is likely to do the same with Eto’o.
