West Ham United defender James Tomkins believes that his side will need to ensure that they keep Everton's strike-force quiet if they are to pick up the three points at the weekend.

The Toffees have one of the most impressive forward-lines in England, with Romelu Lukaku and Samuel Eto'o at Roberto Martinez's disposal, and Tomkins knows that they will need to be contained on Saturday.

The Hammers have been excellent defensively throughout the season so far, but this looks one of their toughest tests to date, and Tomkins admits he will have to be at the top of his game to deal with the Merseyside club's threat.

"It's always nice to test yourself against the best strikers," he said to West Ham's official site. "Eto'o has got a brilliant track record and Lukaku has got great physical strength. If we keep them quiet we'll have a good chance of keeping Everton quiet."

So far this season Lukaku and Eto'o have managed a total of eight goals between them in all competitions.

It is a respectable total, but the Toffees may have been expecting a slightly greater return given their profile.

The two do seem to be starting to click now, though, and have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks.

This has coincided with an upturn in form for the club, after they got off to a slow start to the campaign.

Everton were locked in the bottom-half of the Premier League for some time, but they have begun to put together a string of decent results and are now unbeaten in their last six matches.

West Ham, too, head into the game in brilliant form and they should be confident of picking up the three points.

The Hammers are fighting for a European spot at this early stage of the campaign and Tomkins believes that if they play to their maximum capacity they can pick up a victory.

"We're going to go into it with massive confidence, we can definitely get a result on Saturday," he said. "They haven't been at their best this season and if we continue to play the way we have been, we could definitely get the three points."
