The Cameroon Cycling Federation organized a national cycling race at the Mvog-Ada neighbourhood in Yaounde bringing together close to 50 different cyclists from different cycling clubs.

The national race which comes several years after the last edition was an opportunity for former cycling champions alongside future cycling winners to showcase their talents and thrill the population of Mvog-Ada.

It was the first time for the population to witness a night cycling tour in their neighbourhood.

Merlin Nzeke was the overall winner of the nocturnal race in four hours of cycling. To him, it was an opportunity to ride alongside former champions and young talents who were all excited with the new experience.

He said the race was prinicipally characterized by sprinting and serves as a test ground for him to prepare for international competitions.

The Cameroon Cycling Federation hopes to use the night race as a means to create synergy between the population and the cyclists; an initiative that turned out to be productive as a huge crowd turned out to watch the race.
