Cameroon music legend, Anne Marie Nzie
From the daily newspaper Mutations edition of 10 May 2016, we learn that the one that was once called “Cameroon’s golden voice” is currently detained at the Yaounde Central Hospital.
Anne Marie Nzié 84-year old was refereed to this hospital on 9 May by her relatives. According to a source encountered by the newspaper, “her condition is very critical, because she was unconscious” on arrival at the hospital.
Nothing was said about what she is suffering from. “I can not tell you anything because doctors are still doing their diagnosis. They asked me to wait, because they do not have the necessary elements to make me a report. It is true that Anne Marie Nzié is a star, but here she is a patient and we give information about the health of our patients when they are willing, “said Pierre Joseph Fouda, the Director of the hospital.
It must be said that Anne Marie Nzié, the author of the title “Mabanze” was born in Lolodorf in the Southern Region. She has fifty years of musical career. She was made Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur by the French government.
She is also the second Cameroonian artist to be so honored as such. The first being Manu Dibango. The Cameroon Government had honored her in 2008.
