Ayissi Le Duc Celebrates 30-year Music Career

Ayissi Le Duc is a household name in Cameroon as far as music is concerned. The celebrated Cameroonian artist is 50 years old and 30-year in the arts.

Prior to the official opening yesterday Monday July 9, the sixth edition of Class Fashion, a special cultural evening for youths, took place in Yaounde on Sunday July 8. The event was marked by a fashion parade and musical presentations by artists from across the country. Ayissi Le Duc said he is in Cameroon to celebrate this double event with those who have supported him during the past thirty years of his career. "I have come to celebrate with all Cameroonians, because for the past 30 years, they have supported me, and showed me love and concern. I say thank you to all Cameroonians and to my parents," he said.

Ayissi Le Duc whose real name is Luc Séraphin Fouda Ayissi was born on the 29th April 1962 in Yaounde in a family of artists. He is an icon in the promotion of Cameroon culture abroad. He started dancing at the age of nine. A dancer, writer and talented composer, Ayissi le Duc is a fervent defender of Cameroon culture in its entire splendor. Today, he has two albums "Afro Bantou" and "Neuf Coeurs Angéliques" and two books "Mebegue" published Panthéon and "Art de la Danse et Spiritualité" by Harmattan publishing house. The artist has worked with a host of famous artists such as Manu Dibango, Prince Nico Mbarga, and Anne -Marie Nzie, among others.

Based in France, Ayissi Le Duc is working for the development of his association called "Les Champs du future" created in 1999. The objective of the association is to assist the privileged through humanitarian and socio-cultural activities. Today, the public will watch an exhibition of works by the artist and a cultural evening called "Soirée Gabonaise" in Yaounde.
