Krotal nominated for RFI discovery award

Cameroonian rapper Krotal has appeared in the final nominees list for the RFI discovery award.

Two of his songs, ‘On a tous les soucis’ and ‘Faut pas jouer’, from his third album were nominated. In Cameroon, he is known for his committed lyrics and hip-hop movement.


He is in competition with Idyll Mamba, a Central African who lived in Cameroon for some years. His single ‘Sango et vous’ was a great success. In this competition, he retained the titles 'Wanzin' and ' Guene na sesse ", from his 1st album ‘Bêkou’ which was released in 2013.


Other nominees include; Albino Mbie from Mozambique, Bobona (Burundi), Ife (Benin), Richy (Ouganda), Marema (Sénégal), Oupta (Democratic Republic of Congo), Shishani (Namibie) and Ceuzasy of Cape Verde.


Online votes will be added to the technical opinion of the jury which will be chaired by Congolese artist Fally Ipupa. The jury will meet on November 18, 2014 to decide the winner.

The winner of the RFI discovery award will receive the sum of 10,000 euros equivalent to 6,500,000 Fcfa and will benefit from a tour in Africa and in Paris.


Apart from the cash prize, the winner gets a promotion on the antennae of Radio France International, main driver of this project which aims to unearth talents of African in the field of music.


The RFI is organized every year in partnership with the Sacem, the french Institute, the International Organization of la Francophonie and Deezer.
