With a serious and soothing voice, a mad and charming talent; Léonie Langa had seduced the jury of Stars 2 Demain (edition 2008) and that of the Aguimucla in 2011 before joining Macase.
Ready and determined, she just committed her first single Africa Tema and thus left the band to concentrate on her solo career.
“I am called Langa Laure Léonie and artistically they know me as Léonie Nlanga. I come from the East, born precisely in Bertoua, where I also did my start up, not in choirs, but rather among seminarians in early 2000. Then I went to Ngaoundéré where I enrolled in lycée classique et moderne. I integrated the music club there, and after my Bachelors at the University in the same city I joined the choir and the music club simultaneously." She said.
"I would say without hesitation, in 2008; I participated in the Stars 2 Demain contest and I won it.
"This is how things got serious. Later I also won the Aguimucla in Yaounde where I settle permanently in late 2010. After I crossed the path of the Macase group and subsequently I joined it", she continued.
"Let's say it was fortunate that I met Manu Dibango and André Manga, while I was doing a scene at Merina hotel in Yaoundé. They so loved what I was doing and André suggested I meet Serge Maboma who is the leader of the Macase group.
"At first he told me that Serge used to supervise young people and that he will know what to do with me. From that moment, I followed the group all the time but I felt that I was more an observer because it did not make me participate in rehearsals, I used to just to attend it.
"After a month, I asked permission from Serge, to sing something and he agreed to listen to me... Sometime after, Serge called me, and asked me if I wanted to be part of the vocalists of the group. Very happy, I said yes.
"Therefore, we form the trio of the chorus of the Macase with Sandrine Nanga and Merveille Tchambé. We were allocated the name "Les trois Vierges."
"Collaboration is certainly over as part of the Macase, but we keep excellent relations; I want proof of the collaboration with the Macase on the project to the accompaniment of André Manga, which I am part of the team as a backup vocalist and lead, besides that, scenes of choristers on the projects of the Ministry of culture, including the inauguration of the new material of the show.
"Basically, I'm here, but I withdrew so as to concentrate on my own project.
"And that project is Africa Tema in kakô, a language of Cameroon which means 'Africa wake up'.
"Though promotion is very expensive and I have no team to accompany me so far I will try at my level to do what I can, to be surrounded by good people", she said.
