The Agropoles project, a programme headed by the Cameroonian Ministry of Economy and meant to boost the local production to reduce imports of foodstuffs in Cameroon, just launched its 50th project in Kumba, a town located in the South-West of the country. This agropole is dedicated to the production and sale of pineapples, we learned from reliable sources.

Carried out by a group of about twenty pineapple producers, the Kumba agropole, which will lead to the creation of about 150 jobs, will help, based on official projections, in producing about 8,600 tons of pineapple per year (against 1,200 tons currently), through the creation of 118 hectares of pineapple grove.

As support to launch this project, we learned, the funds injected in this private initiative by the Cameroonian State will be used, among other things, to open a 15 kilometres road to serve the production area.
