1400 containers have been abandoned at port of Douala, a situation of concern to the Minister of Transport, Robert Nkili. "95% of the external trade of the Cameroon goes through the port of Douala".

This was his concern during a working meeting with the agents at the port in Douala, Friday. To accelerate the transport of these containers, the Douala International Terminal has four park portals. With a capacity of 120 movements per hour, these portals have to the role of vacuuming out the harbor space. to Sali Hamadou, Chairman of the board of directors (PCA), these materials estimated at four billion CFA Francs will accelerate the speed of delivery of containers and vessels.

He explained that since the beginning of the use of these portals (12 August 2014), the occupation of the park import has increased from 147% in May 2014 to 89% in September 11, 2014. "350 Containers are placed on truck each day with these portals. It must be clarified that among the 1400 containers which are currently located in the port, more than 400 belong to Chad," said Sali Hamadou.

At the level of the wood park, Philemon Mendo, deputy general director of the operating company of wood in Cameroon (Sepbc) ensures that the decongestion follows its course. He says that 37,000 m3 of timber have been issued on the 60,000 m3 of timber stored at the beginning of the year.

There is no more than 23,000 m3 of wood in the park currently. "On this stock of 60,000 m3, a stream came from the Central African Republic and the other from the north of the Congo" he said. Philemon Mendo added that to fight definitively against the congestion of the park, a new principle has been adopted.
