300 participants expected at Douala micro-insurance forum

More than 300 participants are expected from 8 to 12 September 2014 at the regional forum on micro insurance according to the inter-African Conference of insurance markets (CIMA).

Held under the theme 'Protecting small workers', this event will bring together policy makers, regulators, representatives of the private sector and other actors in the insurance sector to share recent developments on micro insurance in Africa and the world, to assess the potential and identify the means to develop micro insurance in the fourteen Member States of the CIMA.

Planned activities include plenary sessions, workshops and panel discussions on the protection of small farmers and the impact of technological innovation in the distribution of insurance products, the regulator of the sector of insurance in Central Africa and the West said in a statement.

Also present on the agenda are, workshops for business and marketing managers, technical managers and communication professionals in the insurance sector.

It is characterized primarily by low premiums or insured capital, the flexibility of the formalities of underwriting, management contracts, statement of claims and compensation for victims.
