The Cameroonian Government will soon get from the African Development Bank (AfDB), funding for a total of 50 billion Cfa francs ($100 million), to boost the industrialization of the country.

This was made known 4 December 2014 in Awae, on the outskirts of the capital, where the Minister of Agriculture, Clémentine Ananga Messina visited farms of pineapple.

Indeed, these funds from the ADB will help increase processing activities in the areas of horticulture and plantain, in order to increase the incomes of the producers. It is as a prelude to this project which will be piloted by the Ministry of Agriculture and rural development, that Ms. Ananga Messina began a tour of some areas of production to assess their potential.

The future programme to be financed by the ADB will thus be added to the agenda for investment and development of agricultural markets (Pidma), funded this time by the World Bank, for a total amount of 50 billion Cfa francs.

It aims to boost the production of maize, cassava and sorghum, to supply agro-industrial companies such as Nestle and Guinness.
