7 Countries to participate in Festi Coffee 2015

Participants from seven countries are expected to take part in this year’s International Coffee Festival "festi coffee" that will run from April 23rd-25th 2015.

The information was made known by Trade Minister, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana this Thursday April 16, 2015 in a press conference organised in Yaounde.

The third edition of the coffee festival or "festi coffee" will be taking place in the City of Yaounde under the theme, “Cameroonian Woman in Coffee.”

According Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana this year’s theme is in a bid to draw attention to the role women play in the coffee sector.

The trade boss added that Cameroonians need to invest in the sector in order to take advantages of the rising demand of coffee in the world market.

The Minister said the festival will be a platform to redress the drastic drop in the production and consumption of Coffee in the country.

It is worth noting that Cameroon that had a record production capacity of over 110,000 tonnes of coffee in the 1980s, now produces only 20,000 tonnes.

The third edition of the coffee festival or "festi coffee" is organised by the Cocoa and Coffee Inter-professional Council seeks to encourage local consumption of coffee produced in Cameroon.

The Cocoa and Coffee inter-professional Council also hopes to widen the scope of the Cameroonian Coffee in the foreign markets.
