AFD injects 11.8b CFA francs into agric, health, edu. sectors

The French Development Agency (AFD) and the Government of Cameroon signed November 1, 2014 in Yaoundé, the capital of the country, a financing agreement for a total of 11.8 billion Cfa francs, dedicated to the development of the sectors of agriculture, health and education.

Specifically, this agreement, which is part of the 2nd generation development debt contract (C2D), will help in the the supply and administering of anti retro-virals in the country, the clearance of arrears of the State towards the national central of supply of essential medicines (Cename), the preparatory work for the agricultural census, the supply of agricultural inputs as well as the payment of salaries of denominational private teachers.

With a total budget of 214 billion Cfa francs, the second C2D (2011-2016), additional initiative of the french government to the international monetary Fund (IMF) HIPC initiative, was essentially devoted to agriculture and rural development.
