AFD to support Camrail's developmental projects

The Age French Development Agency has expressed its readiness to assist Camrail in other development areas.

The recent trip by Claude Bartolone, president of the French National Assembly was an opportunity for the French Development Agency (AFD) to reiterate its willingness and determination to assist Cameroon in the railway sector.

To do this, the Agency expressed its intention to support Camrail, a subsidiary of Bolloré group at the local level. This accompaniment is provided at different levels.

As a first step, AFD intends to participate in the creation of a railway trades training Centre. A draft has been submitted by this institution as an innovation in Cameroon and in the whole of the sub-region. The other site where it intends to help with is the renewal of the railway in the Ngaoundéré-Pangar stretch.

Indeed, the Bolloré group through its subsidiary Camrail has started work for the renewal of the track between Batchenga and Ka'a, a distance of 165 Km with the support of the State of Cameroon and donors.

Jean Pierre Marcelli, Africa Director general of AFD has also clarified that the institution intends to accompany the Bolloré group in relation to the construction of new railway lines sites. With Claude Bartolone, the two men have been kept on the Bluebus (electric bus) opened on May 2 and sponsored the Bolloré group for the transportation of students and teachers of this institution at the University of Yaoundé I.

They've had a meeting to discuss the innovative technology of these vehicles, their applications as well as the battery charging device which was an opportunity for the president of the French National Assembly to assess the evolution of the renewable energy market in Cameroon.

Hamadou Sali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Camrail and Mohamed Diop, regional director Gulf of Guinea of Bolloré Africa Logistics accounted for the group throughout this journey.
