The outgoing president of the employers' organization was the only candidate who presented a list for elections at Gicam.
The elective Assembly of Gicam was planned for Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the headquarters of the Organization at Bonanjo in Douala. A meeting in principle expected to re-elect incumbent president André Fotso, only candidate who presented a list for this high office.
The list entitled “Alliance action II' has ambition to "mobilize all stakeholders around the acceleration of growth to win at least a point of growth each year so as to achieve a 2-digit growth rate by 2020, in order to place Cameroon in an irreversibly way on the path of the emergence,” noted the statement posted on the website of the largest employer organization of Cameroon.
In the list of 12 members proposed by the CEO of TAF Investment Group, for the Executive Board, are Francis Batista, Director General of the breweries in Cameroon, Emmanuel Etoundi Oyono, DG of the Autonomous Port in Douala, Armel François, PHP DG (Corporation des Plantations du Haut Pendja).
André Fotso and his team, if they are elected, propose an "innovative and proactive" project with ideas: an ambition for the company and our economy, the gathering of private sector for cohesion on strategic issues convincing and effective in the private sector/public, dynamic in the international dialogue.
For this new term of three years, the team led by André Fotso will inter alia organize quarterly meetings by sector, better assist SMEs, increase the number of active members for greater representativeness and proximity.
In addition to the election of the new Executive Council, this Assembly of the Gicam will also review the activities of the Organization during the last six months.
