Bayangam Farmers Receive Farm Inputs

Farm inputs worth the sum of FCFA 5.6 million have been offered by the National Employment Fund (NEF) to some five Common Initiative Groups (CIGs) in Bayangam Sub-division of the Koung-khi Division of the West Region, involved in the production of vegetables, cabbage and tomatoes.

The farm input distribution ceremony that took place in the courtyard of the palace of paramount ruler of Batoufam village was presided over by the Paramount Chief of Batoufam village, Fo'o Nayang Toukam Innocent, in the presence of the Brigade Commander of Gendarmerie in Bayangam and under the supervision of the West Regional Director of NEF, Pierre Tekapsso. The villages that benefitted from NEF gesture included Batoufam, Bayangam, Badrefam and Bangabg-Fonji.

Addressing the members of the five CIGs, the chief of Batoufam, Fo'o Nayang Toukam Innocent, sincerely thanked NEF boss for thinking of coming to the assistance of the young farmers, adding that the offer of the farm inputs to the beneficiaries by NEF was going to spur the farmers towards hard work, increased production and output. Family income will also be raised while the living conditions of their family members will be improved.

Turning to the farmers, the chief told them to honour their engagement with the National Employment Fund by paying back the loans in record time, so that the NEF will be motivated to increase the amount and possibly other sustainable developments projects in the Sub-division. The farmers have one year to pay back the FCFA 5.6 million, with each member expected to pay FCFA 68,000.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chief of Agric-post, for Bayangam thanked the National Employment Fund for extending their assistance to the young farmers of the three villages and promised that all efforts will be put in place to ensure that the terms of the contract are respected.
