Several bars and shops trading in beers in Yaounde have been noted to have increased the price of beer, journalducameroun reporter disclosed on January 1, 2015.

Some brands such as Castel, Mutzig and 33 Export, have thus increased from 500 to 700 CFA Francs against the general average price before the end of the year, when price stood at 500 FCFA for "33" and 550 F CFA for Castel and Mutzig. Judging from the selling prices, some have added 100 F CFA while others have added 200 F CFA on the usual prices.

A correspondent of journalducameroun.com in the eastern region, indicated that the situation in this region is the same. Hoping for an official increase in prices, some tenants of drinking establishments have concealed beer straps to obtain substantial added value at the time of a possible increase.

Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, however said in a statement released December 31, 2014, that the price of beers and drinks remain unchanged, "until further notice". He wanted to warn wholesalers and bar owners 'against any attempt of concealment or of speculative stocks for purposes of price inflation.
