Bertoua gas filling centre, 98% complete

According to the Caisse de stabilisation in the price of hydrocarbons (HSPC), the packer of domestic gas in the city of Bertoua, the regional capital of Cameroon shows a rate of 98% near completion.

This infrastructure of a total amount of 5 billion Cfa francs will soon boost consumption of this source of energy in this region of Cameroon, through 100 metric tonnes capacity.

But in the meantime, people continue to use household gas from the repositories of Cameroonian society of petroleum deposits in Yaoundé or Douala. What hypes costs of this product in the eastern region (8000 FCfa 12 Kg bottle, against 6500 Fcfa), is that, sellers are being forced to pass on the costs of transport to the final consumer.

Domestic gas Packer of Bertoua will be the 2nd to be built by HSPC, after that of Maroua, in the region of the far North. According to Boniface Zé, technical adviser to HSPC, these investments are focused on encouraging the consumption of household gas on Cameroonian territory, for the purpose of combating desertification (by discouraging the use of firewood) in the northern part of Cameroon, and deforestation in the southern part.
