A multilateral surveillance mission from the Economic Community of Central African States (CEMAC) is in Cameroon to assess the country’s economy.

The CEMAC delegation headed by Jean Claude Nguemeni began its one week mission in Cameroon with an encounter with the National Surveillance Committee. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Contracts, Jean Tchoffo this 8th June 2015.

During the one-week period in Cameroon, key economic issues including structural reforms, the emergency plan, security checks, the price of crude oil and economic partnership agreements shall be reviewed.

A focus on these key economic issues shall facilitate the collection of socio-economic data and other relevant information concerning the economic evolution of the country.

The CEMAC multilateral surveillance mission last visited Cameroon in January 2015. The primary mission is to ensure a balance between the national budgetary policies and the common monetary policy, as well as ensure the convergence of macro-economic policies of CEMAC states.

The ultimate goal is to facilitate the elaboration of the 2016 economic policies.
